This series provides a record of the business transacted at meetings of Newtown Municipal Council, 1863-1948 (OR-0007). It commences with the first meeting of the newly created Council in February 1863. The Council is considered to have come into existence when formally gazetted the previous year.

An index covering the period 15/01/1924-20/01/1930 is included with Volume 18.

The following physical volumes include the Minutes of the Council Committees, bound at the end of the Council Minutes. The digital copies of these volumes show only the Council Minutes. Council Committee Minutes are available as their own Series (AS-0606).

Volume 16 contains the Committee Minutes from 17 March 1919 until 17 December 1923. These are available in Volume 7 of AS-0606.

Volume 17 contains the Committee Minutes from 28/01/1924 until 10/12/1929. These are available in Volume 8 of AS-0606.

Volume 18 (1930-1935) contains the Committee Minutes from 20/01/1930 until 22/10/1934. These are available in Volume 9 of AS-0606.

Volume 19 (1935-1936) contains the Committee Minutes from 14/01/1935 until 2/11/1936. These are available in Volume 10 of AS-0606.

Volume 20 contains the Committee Minutes from 4/01/1937 to  20/11/1944. These are available in Volume 11 of AS-0606.

Volume 21 (1945-1948) contains the Committee Minutes from 8/2/1945 until 12/10/1948. These are available in Volume 12 of AS-0606.

Transcriptions of Council Minutes were created by Archives volunteers Mark Matheson, Graham Nichols, Shirley Doolan, Reg Johnson, Jenny Kropp, Jan Bowditch and Lorraine Sketch.
