This collection contains a small selection of archives relating to Victoria Park Swimming Pool.
Victoria Park swimming pool was officially opened on 18 December 1954. It was originally named in honour of King George VI who had died in 1952.
The pool complex at Victoria Park included a main pool and a wading pool. Male and female changing rooms were curved in plan, with a flat roof that provided a sunbaking area on the rooftop. Costumes and towels could be hired. A children’s playground and kiosk were added later.
