On the left is the former Australian Gas Light Company building at number 479 to 487. On the right is the former Fire Engine House at number 477. Completed in June 1857 for the No. 1 Australian Volunteer Fire Company, the former fire station is the oldest purpose built fire station in Sydney. It is in Victorian Mannerist style with twin pilasters and decorative scroll work. It later housed a cafe. On hoardings on the right side is a poster for The Party Boys.
