Unique IDA-00062113SeriesMark Goddard Photograph Collection, 2007-2009Date11th January 2009Date qualifierexactFormatPhotograph - DigitalDescriptionView west towards Waterfront Park, Pyrmont, which was created upon the site of the Colonial Sugar Refinery’s (CSR) caneite factory. Caneite, a type of particle board used for construction, was made from the leftover sugar cane after the sugar had been extracted. The three large rusty metal balls in the centre of the image are defibrators related to the manufacture of caneite that were salvaged from the old factory prior to its demolition in order to create Waterfront Park. The apartment building pictured, at 2 Bowman Street, is known as Evolve which is part of the Jacksons Landing residential and commercial property development on the Pyrmont peninsula. In the background is the Anzac Bridge, a large cable-stayed concrete bridge that crosses over Johnstons Bay to Glebe Island.
