Although the first bridge to cross the stretch of water straddling Blackwattle Bay and Johnstons Bay from Pyrmont to Glebe Island no longer exists, this second bridge, opened in 1903, still exists. The bridge, designed by Percy Allan, operated from 1903 until 1995. The control tower for the bridge is in the centre of the image. At the top left of the image is the Anzac Bridge. This is the third bridge to cross the same stretch of water. It is a cable-stayed concrete bridge that opened in 1995. At the right of the image are the Glebe Island Silos, which were painted to look like Grecian columns prior to the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
