Memo. Edward Bell, City Engineer reporting on his examination, in the company of the Health Officer, of the sewer crossing George Street South, near the Haymarket and the sewer crossing Elizabeth Street and emptying its contents into Castlereagh Street near the Cattle Market. It is in a most filthy state and he can offer no remedy for this unless a new main sewer be constructed to obviate the necessity of the water course. Such a main drain would serve for the sewerage of the whole of the watershed bounded by South Head Road, Bank Street, Surry Hills and Redfern. Isaac Aaron, Officer of Health has added a postscript stating he fully concurs with the City Engineer's report. The report is stood over.
