Memo. R Seymour, Inspector of Nuisances. Last Monday evening, with the Mr Baker and Mr Watkins, he was passing along the west side of George Street, and there was a very offensive smell coming from William Brierly's butcher's shop to the south of Goulburn Street (595 George Street). They found, hung up with other meat, five pieces of meat which were green and rotten. He went into the back room and found a man skinning a sheep covered with ulcers. The back room was 20 by 12 feet and in it is a place for slaughtering, a salting table, a sausage making machine, a water closet, and a horse is also kept there. Brierly has been fined several times at the Police Office and he is again summonsed for tomorrow.
