Letter: Henry Goodwin Valentine Lane George St south, stating that the new tenant, Mr Lawn painter, of his building has erected a signboard at 8 George St and as it is similar to others in the City, trusts the signboard can remain. (Note: For City Building Surveyor's report: HJD;7/1/91. This is a letter from Henry Goodwin owner of premises No 8 George St west, requesting that a large sign board which has been erected by his tenant Mr Lawn, on the roof of the premises referred to be allowed to remain. The sign board is about 10 or 11 feet high and extends along the whole front of the building, completely covering the roof. The situation is not dangerous, and if reduced in size say to 4' feet 6" inches high it might be allowed to remain. I may add the Mr Lawn was summonsed at the Central Police Court for erecting this structure, but the summons was withdrawn at the request of the City Solicitor to allow of the sign being altered: GMcR:22/1/91. Mayor will see Mr Merriman)
