Biographical details: Brother of Thomas W Chowne, Clerk of Works,; son of Thomas Chowne, ship builder of Pyrmont Prominent contractor for various City Works such as construction of a wharf at John St Pyrmont in 1866, alterations to the Gentlemen’s Baths, Woolloomooloo in 1874, construction of baths, jetty etc at Pyrmont in 1877.
