Description
This series contains copies of applications for development permission forms signed by the applicant. The originals of these forms were on development application files that were part of CRS 138, City Building Surveyor's Department Correspondence Files, 1936-1978. However, the development applications for 1951 to 1953 that were a part of CRS 138 were destroyed in error (See CRS 116, 19.16.0082). This means that these forms are the only copies of the applications that survive. This series contains a copy of the application form filled out and signed by the applicant. The form details the name an address of the owner and applicant, location of proposed development, description of existing building, present use of premises and nature of proposed development. The forms are annotated with the date of approval by Council, or the Lord Mayor or Town Clerk, and a reference to the related file in CRS 34, Town Clerk's Department Correspondence Files. Often the Council resolution relating to the application is pasted on the form. The loose forms have been bound into folders and given a single running number that bears no relation to the development application number. The order is roughly chronological by date of Council approval. This series was only retained because the development application files were accidentally destroyed. However, some of the bound volumes of forms are also missing (forms 751-950 and 1301-1500).
