Report of the Finance Committee submitting a Progress Report of the Sub-Committee on the Working of the Corporation. Committee reconsidered their report earlier submitted on the working of the various departments and now re-submitted it with alterations in regard to the George Street Markets. Committee recommended changes to the rentals of stalls at the markets. Appended: Printed report: Further Progress Report of the Finance Sub-Committee on the working of the Corporation, 15 July 1880. Report refers to the Botany Water Works and the actions of the Mechanical Engineer re coal deliveries, work on a steam engine for a steam launch, and private work, and includes a Precis of Evidence given by: Westcott, the Mechanical Engineer; T Spence, Second Engineer, 8 years service; J Ham, fitter, 10 years service; J Dole, 11 years service, cutting grass etc; J Best, 14 years service, cleaning engine etc; Jas Court, 3rd Engineer, 12 years service; G Smedley, 18½ years service; T Bragg, 10 years service, in engine house; Court and Bragg's evidence stated coal deliveries were made to: Berry, Geddye, Dives, Lord, Tremlyn, Woods, Robertson and Mrs Smith.
