The buildings have a deeply pitched iron roof and a deep verandah. The low position of the windows is a clue that the street level has changed over time. An election poster for alderman Evan Jones, who ran for the Lang Ward in the 1900 council election, is pasted on the wall. There is a large telegraph pole, people standing in two of the doorways, and a child, two boys and a young man out the front.

Shadows indicate this is a north-south street, with street level and posts resembling A-01000173 at 279 Kent Street. Election poster for Alderman Evan Jones puts this picture in Lang Ward, which ran west from George Street to Darling Harbour, and south from Grosvenor Street to Hay Street.
