It has a decorative, wrought iron awning wrapped around the façade, which is inlaid with the name of the hotel. There are various poles and wires for telegraph, electricity and trams. On the road in front of the hotel, there is a bicycle and tram tracks. The photographer casts a shadow. In the distance, on Bourke Street, there is a commercial building with the date 1887 moulded into the facade. The Victoria Hotel was demolished soon after this photograph was taken in July 1907. Taylor Square was created here when Flinders Street was widened a decade later.LanguageNo linguistic content - Not applicable (zxx)Special citationHere is the photographer, his shadow caught in the act.
