DescriptionThis collection was acquired from Adam Forrest Grant’s family in 2013.
Grant was employed an electrical engineer at the Municipal Council of Sydney, and later Sydney County Council, from 1908 until his death in 1949. Grant was also a talented and keen photographer and a longstanding member of the Photographic Society of NSW.
This collection consists of over 200 images, documenting the architectural detail and industrial beauty of urban life in Sydney between the first and second world wars. The photographs feature views of the old City skyline and Sydney Harbour as well as industrial and architectural scenes from suburbs such as Darlinghurst, Pyrmont and Millers Point.
A quiet and unassuming man, Grant never exhibited in his lifetime, except in his living room. Many of his negatives and glass plates were never printed.LanguageNo linguistic content - Not applicable (zxx)
