The church was the first Presbyterian church in Sydney, presided over by John Dunmore Lang until his death in 1878. It was demolished in 1926 to make way for the approaches to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Etching No 28 of 50. In 1937, Sydney Ure Smith gave a charcoal drawing of the Hyde Park Barracks and 10 etchings of Old Sydney to Council. His inspiration came from the threat to the buildings and landscapes as a consequence of redevelopment.Many of the buildings he depicted were long since demolished by the time of his donation.
