By 1874, the Cathedral was substantially complete, including the western towers. The view extends across Haymarket and Ultimo and sweeps around to the Exhibition Building in Prince Alfred Park. In 1873, Sydney photographer Francis W Robinson undertook a perilous ascent of the clocktower of Sydney Town Hall, then nearing completion as the tallest structure in Sydney.
