This collection consists of 54 glass plate negatives of Sydney (and possibly surrounding areas) between circa 1914 and circa 1932. They include a pre- Sydney Harbour Bridge photograph of Circular Quay, several buildings in the Central Business District (CBD) and Potts Point, navy ships in Sydney Harbour, Darlinghurst Gaol, Sydney Royal Easter Show pavilions and some unknown locations. Several are of plans from the competitive design for the Daily Telegraph Building submitted by various architects circa 1914-1916.
The glass negatives were found in a box under a house in Sydney by Craig Paterson while he was working on the property approximately 40 years ago. The owner of the house indicated that her husband had acquired them but had no other knowledge of their origins and requested he take them. Craig donated them to the City Archives in 2021.
