Vivi Germanos Koutsounadis immigrated from Greece to Australia with her family in 1954. The family first settled in Glebe and moved to Redfern in c1957. The Koutsounadis family took over the milk bar and confectionary business on the corner of Regent and Redfern streets started by her uncle Nicholas Fotinos in c.1945. The family-run Chios Milk Bar at 60 Regent Street became one of few venues in Redfern that welcomed Aboriginal people as patrons (another venue was the Empress Hotel).
