When new fruit and vegetable markets were built further south in 1908–09, the Belmore Markets building was converted into a circus venue for Wirth Bros, known as the Hippodrome, completed by 1916. The Hippodrome was converted into Capitol Theatre opening in 1928. Masiua Suisan is visible in the photograph.
