Unique IDAY-0115DescriptionAs part of the City's response to the boundary changes that came into effect on 8 May 2003, two Neighbourhood Service Centres were established, in Glebe and Kings Cross, to provide local services to residents of the new areas rejoining the City. Each NSC was headed by a Place Manager, and the staff included customer service officers and planning staff. The key responsibility was to handle planning-related applications in cases where the applicant did not wish to travel to Town Hall House.
The NSCs also acted as points of contact for residents with complaints, and as access points for paying rates and transcating other Council business.
When the 1948-49 boundary changes were implemented, the City for a few years maintained small staffs at each of the Town Halls of the absorbed Councils. More resersch is needed to establish if this was analagous to the NSCs or if it was driven mainly by the transition process as administration was gradually centralised at the Sydney Town hall buildings.CreationGeneral Manager's e-mail to staff, 21 March 2003
