DescriptionThe cash books record details of all receipts and payments, 1843-1904. They were created by the City Treasury Department I (AG-0012) in the period 31/08/1843 to 30/06/1904.

The cash books were divided into three sub-series:
- Cash Books
- Cash Book Sundries, and
- Cash Book Miscellaneous.

The Cash Books record the date, who received the money and why, amount received, date, paid to, salaries repairs and incidental expenditures, and total amount. Money was received by the Council for removal of rubbish, bank interest, tolls from the Randwick toll gate, wharves, the Pyrmont Baths, cleaning closets, paving, rents, and fees and fines. Money was spent by the Council on salaries and wages, general works, street watering, and the City Markets.
