Paddington Town Hall Accounts Ledgers

The Ledgers show the name of the hirer, the venue booked, the total charges, and date of payment and hiring. The Hall was used by various societies, clubs, aldermen, schools and political parties.

These Ledgers were created by Paddington Municipal Council which existed from 1860 to 1948, and owned the Paddington Town Hall. When the Paddington Municipal Council was amalgamated with the Council of the City of Sydney in 1949, the ownership of the Hall was transferred to the City Council.

These three volumes were transferred to the Mitchell Library by Council in 1970 and were controlled by them as MUN 20, Add On 1184, Items 465-467. The volumes were transferred back to Council's custody in 1989 (See CRS 326, File No. A06-00050).
