Section 1 recorded the inward letters to Erskineville Council. In this section, letter authors were registered alphabetically. Each list included the relevant subject title and file number. The subject title and file number referred to the series controlled by this register, the Erskineville Correspondence and Subject Files (CRS614).

Section 2 also recorded the inward letters to Erskineville Council. The registration lists in this section were arranged alphabetically by subject. Each list also recorded the letter's author and relevant file number from the Erskineville Correspondence and Subject Files (CRS614).

Section 3 was an index to the Minutes of Erskineville Council. The lists were arranged alphabetically by subject of the Minutes. Each entry included a personal index, the date of meeting, the minute number and relevant subject file number.

Within each alphabetical section, entries were made sequentially as letters and minutes were received. Dates were only recorded in section 3, Index to Minutes of Council.
