Unique IDAS-0631Date1st January 1932Date qualifierexactFormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionThis series consists of a number of applications for charitable aid submitted to the Waterloo Benevolent Society in 1932. The applications have been bound-up into a single volume.

Applications were made on a simple form, which records: name, marital status and number of family members; any other aid received; length of residence in Waterloo; and an investigators report on the family medical and employment circumstances of the applicant. Applications are signed by the applicant. The outcome of the application and amount of aid-order if granted, are noted on each form.

Occasionally supporting letters or other documents are appended to an application. Scattered through the volume are circular memoranda to Benevolent Society case-workers as to the criteria applicants should meet and the amounts and circumstances of emergency aid (such as blankets) that could be provided.

Included in the back of the volume are Notices of Transfer of Land received by Waterloo Council in 1932.

They record the name of the person transferring; the date of transfer; the transfer fee; the County, Parish, Shire, Municipality, Name of Street and Estate, Lot number, Volume and Folio number; the signature of the person giving notice; the date the transfer has been received by Waterloo Council; and which Town, Shire it is being transferred to. Sometimes there is also a description of frontage and depth of the land; hand written annotations; a stamp from the V.G. Department, or a date stamp from Waterloo Council; and correspondence. There are 41 notices.
