The collections are as follows:

Sydney Sandstone - 717 colour photographs taken by Gary Deirmendjian for his book 'Sydney Sandstone' (Sydney, Craftsman House, 2002). The photographs are of 19th and early 20th century Sydney sandstone buildings and details built of, or faced with, sandstone quarried from around Sydney. They include the old Darlinghurst Gaol, Customs House, the General Post Office, the University of Sydney as well as many churches, museums, government institutions and landmark buildings within Sydney’s CBD and immediate surrounds.

Art Deco - 30 black and white photographs taken by Gary Deirmendjian in 2009. The photographs are interior and exterior details of Art Deco buildings. The majority of the images in the set are of apartment buildings in Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay. There are also some images of buildings in the CBD.

Trachyte - 80 colour photographs taken by Gary Deirmendjian in 2010. The photographs document how trachyte stone was used in the Sydney built environment. They were taken for a book by Robert Irving, Ron Powell and Noel Irving titled ‘Sydney's hard rock story: the cultural heritage of trachyte’ (Leura, Heritage Publishing, 2014). These images show details of trachyte stone on facades, steps and pillars of buildings, as well as kerbs and gutters within Sydney’s CBD.

Dust Storm - 13 colour photographs taken by Gary Deirmendjian on 23 September 2009. The photographs were taken on the day Sydney was enveloped in a red/orange haze, when a huge dust storm settled over the city and most of NSW.
