Mineral spring water from Ballimore, near Dubbo, was bottled here. A delivery cart is parked on the street out the front. In March 1900, the business owner J W Cockbaine, who was also Petersham’s mayor, complained about John Mannix’s ‘lower class boarding house’ next door at 173 Kent Street. In a letter to the council in March 1900, Cockbaine complained that ‘they burn bones, old boots and creating a terrible stink their yard is lower than the drain & as the fowls ducks etc. kept by them stir it up, the effluvia is nauseous.’ Charles Francis Doutreband was also involved in Zetz Spa. He was a Belgian immigrant who lived at Dubbo for a time, and coincidentally owned land that council purchased for its municipal garage. David McDonald lived in the house adjoining at 175 Kent Street. According the Assessment Books for 1896 and 1901, the three buildings in this line were owned by Miss E Dunn, probably inherited from Hannah Viles Dunn (1813 -98), who in turn inherited them from John Brown Viles.
