Unique IDA-00045452SeriesCity Engineer's Photographic Negatives, 1953-1975Date13th November 1961Date qualifierexactFormatPhotograph - NegativeDescriptionLooking north west from the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC) building which is under construction at 361-375 Oxford. The construction of this building was started 22nd August 1960 and it was opened on the 31st December 1962. Work is also in progress on reconstructing and resealing Oxford Street. Building on the right is the United Services Hotel at number 338 which is also the corner of William Street. Ropes and pulleys can be seen on the left past a workers boot which is on the OTC building. A double decker bus is travelling along Oxford Street towards the Sydney Central Business District. Further along Oxford Street on the left can be seen a Commonwealth Trading and Savings Bank branch at number 257-259. At the upper centre is the Imperial Hotel at number 252 with Tooth's Sheaf Stout on the side wall in front of the large chimney stack which is located at the Royal Hospital for Women on Young Street, Oxford Street and Glenmore Road, Paddington. At the upper right can be seen the arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. On the right at number 336 Oxford Street is the shop of Pat Boyds Meats. Commercial vehicles and cars are travelling or parked along Oxford Street.
