Mountain, City Surveyor wrote to inform the Town Clerk that Thomas Barrett of Field of Mars had complained that blasting in the Pennant Hills Quarry had resulted in an extensive land slip on the Eastern side of it and that despite the danger, blasting had continued. [The file contains a list of names of persons who are employees and work at the Quarry. Dwelling in Huts were Robert Thomson, John Callinan, Thomas Murphy Jnr. Thomas Murphy Snr. John Kirk, Austin Gallagher, James Catt, James Dooley. Those dwelling in tents were William Mills, Michael Malone, James Hoddle, Michael Connor, Daniel Healey. Persons occupying Government Land and not employed at the Quarry: William Allport, Mrs Buckley, and "old Eliza, who lives on charity".
