Trained at the Julian Ashton Art School, Kingston’s particular interest in vernacular Sydney architecture resulted in a number of exhibitions and illustrated publications, including Early Slab Buildings of the Sydney Region and Highways and By-ways of the Sydney Region.

The series includes photographs (including negatives, prints and slides) which were used as the basis for sketches, especially those in Daphne's book Sydney's Hidden Charms. They include a mixture of whole buildings and close-up images of architectural details. Most of the photographs are of residential buildings in different styles and materials but there is some coverage of commercial buildings as well. An interesting inclusion is a series of photographs she took of the last day of opening of Grace Brothers Broadway.

The series also includes images, ephemera and the Memories of the Kings Cross, 1936-1946 monograph which are yet to be processed.
