Obituary: THE LATE MR. W. TREGEAR. (By A Friend.) Mr. Wm. Tregear passed away at his residence A'Beckett-street, Granville, on 23rd inst., after about three week's illness. He had been a sufferer for many years from asthma, and during the past few months had gradually become weaker, and when attacked with bronchial asthma he passed away as stated. The late Mr. Tregear was well known at Wollongong, having spent about 14 years here as an officer in connection with the Metropolitan Board of Water Supply and Sewerage, He was of a retiring disposition, but many charitable and patriotic affairs received gifts at his hands. He was of a generous disposition and was intensely patriotic, being a firm believer in the Greater Britain. Zealous of what her flag stands for, with an equal contempt for the disloyalist and renegade. He was a practical patriot, for at the call of Empire, four of his six sons joined the army. The second son only arrived home a few weeks ago, and a third is still on the sea. The late Mr Tregear was a staunch adherent of the Methodist Church, and was a great lover of sacred music, .being naturally gifted in this respect. He was a self-taught musician of no mean ability, having, as a younger man acted as choir master and organist on several occasions. Had he been blessed with a stronger vitality it is not too much to assume that the world would have heard more of him as a musician. Fortunately his musical gifts are inherited by his oldest son, who bears his name. Tho deceased was 69 years of age and eaves a widow and eleven children, and two grandchildren to mourn their loss.
