Death Notice: HOWELL.-November 18, 1890, at his residence, 83 Goulburn-street, near Pitt-street, George Howell, late clerk of markets, aged 67 years. [ref: SMH 19 November 1890]

Statement by Mayor to Council on news of death: He believed that Mr. Howell was an officer who had served the council faithfully for many years, and he was sure that the aldermen sympathised with his widow. It was resolved that a letter of sympathy be sent. [ref: SMH 19 November 1890 p6]
