The large Art Deco fountain was constructed between 1926 and 1932 and designed by French sculptor Francois-Leon Sicard. The fountain commemorates the association between Australia and France in World War I and features a bronze Apollo surrounded by other mythical creatures. In background on left hand side is a kiosk with signage 'Meals & Tea Rooms', on right hand side is a pedestrian avenue lined by street lamps and trees. The fountain's water has been turned off.
