This post card incorrectly describes the place as the Shrine of Remembrance, but has never been known by this name.
Construction began after the foundation was laid by Sir Philip Game on 19 July 1932 and finished in 1934.
The Memorial was opened by the Duke of Gloucester on 24 November 1934 and underwent refurbishment during 2005-2009.
