Fred Nile, a former politician, was well known for his stance against homosexuality. Some of the activists are holding placards, one with a slogan: 'Fred Nile is Vile'. This protest initiated by Community Action Against Homophobia and was in response to the NSW government's decision to pause their work on an NSW anti-discrimination act towards homosexuals, a decision that had been heavily influenced by Nile's campaigns against it.
