Description
This collection contains a small selection of archives relating to Clarence Street.
Clarence Street stretches from Druitt Street to Jamison Street.
The street was originally called Middle Soldiers Row before it was renamed by Governor Macquarie in 1810 after the Duke of Clarence (who became William IV). There was a section between Town Hall and Bathurst Street named St Andrews Place in 1914 which has since disappeared.
The street includes the Clarence Street Police Station, the Grace Building, Red Cross House and St Philips Church.
