He was a tanner, currier and manufacturer. Wilshire was Mayor in 1843-1844. He was elected MLC for the City of Sydney, 1855-1861. He was a magistrate and a supporter of the Benevolent Society of New South Wales. He was also a trustee of the Savings Bank of New South Wales. He was born on 29 July 1809 and died on 30 August 1860.
