Prior to his election to Council, Ward was a professional boxer and fought against the draft in 1914-1918. He was a member of the Works Committee, 1930-1934; the Health and By Laws Committee, 1930-1934; and the Electricity Committee, 1930-1932. Ward was elected member of the House of Representatives for East Sydney, 1931-1960. He was Minister for Labour and National Services, 1941-1943; and Minister for Transport and Minister for External Territories, 1943-1949. He was a member of the Australian Labor Party. He was born on 21 March 1899 and died on 31 July 1963. Photo: Council Record Series 54/80.
