Standing opposite the General Post Office (GPO), it was built in 1904 for Bank of Australasia (later taken over by ANZ Bank) and designed by Edward E. Raht, with the Bank's motif carved on a semicircular pediment above the splayed corner. It passed to the United Permanent Building Society in 1980, later being occupied by Paspaley Pearls.
