This location is known to be the site of the First Government House. The Department of Public Works building that was on this site was demolished in the 1980s to make way for the Museum of Sydney which opened in 1995. In the foreground are a pedestrian crossing sign and a wire mesh fence. In the background left is the rear of 39 Phillip Street.
