Built in 1912, the octagonal timber structure is on a brick base and is referred to as a bandstand, gazebo or rotunda. It represents a time in history when park-going became a large part of people’s leisure time and music was regularly played in bandstands for the public. On the left are a large Moreton Bay fig tree and the stone wall of the Sydney Observatory grounds.
