Unique IDAG-0158DescriptionOn 26 September 1972 Council resolved to establish a Preservation Advisory Committee. The terms of the Committee were to advise Council on all aspects of the preservation of buildings and features of historic or architectural significance. The proposal for the establishment of this Committee came from the consultants appointed to manage Council's Action Plan No 13, Preservation, MSJ Keys Young Pty Ltd. The members of the Committee included representatives from the National Trust of Australia, the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, the Royal Australian Historical Society, the NSW Public Works Department, the State Planning Authority of NSW, the Building Owners & Manager's Association, the Association of Consulting Engineers, the NSW Valuer General, the NSW Department of Tourism, and Council's Consultants Peter Keys and B Young of MSJ Keys Young. Mr Keys and later Mr Young were Chairmen of the Committee.
The Committee reported to CA 99, City Development Committee. The first meeting was held on 29 November 1972. The last minutes held are for a meeting on 17 May 1977. When the new standing Committees were appointed on the 10 October 1977, the City Development Committee was replaced by CA 56, City Planning Committee and Council decided that there should be only one Sub-Committee (the Special Projects Sub-Committee). It appears the Preservation Advisory Committee ceased to exist at this time.CreationResolution of Council 26 September 1972AbolitionResolution of Council 17 September 1977?
