He was an electrical engineer and contractor. Prior to his election to the Council, he was a co-founder of the first industrial group within the Australian Labor Party. He entered the local government politics as alderman in 1950 until 1956 and became the Mayor of Randwick Municipality in 1954-1956. Jensen was Lord Mayor in 1957-1965, one of Sydney's longest serving lord mayors. Jensen was credited for the creation of the Senior Citizens Welfare Centres in the City and launched the "meals on wheels" initiated by Lord Mayor Pat Hills. He was also the Chairman of the Sydney County Council, 1954-1955. He was the inaugural secretary of the NSW Labor Party industrial group. He was given the Brotherhood Award of the Jewish Theological Seminary of the United States in 1962. He was elected MLA for Wyong, 1965-1973 and for Munmorah, 1973-1978 and was the Minister for Local Government and Planning, 1976. He retired from the Parliament in 1981. He was born on 12 July 1913.
