DescriptionThe plans in this series consist of originals and copies of plans of Camperdown generally and more specifically of individual streets. Details include street widths, land use, levels and bearings, boundary and building lines.

The plans were created by Camperdown Municipal Council (AG-0063) in the period 1868-1908.

The plans refer to the Borough of Camperdown prior to its association with Sydney City Council. The Borough was constituted on 13 November 1862 and amalgamated with the Municipality of Cook under the name Camperdown on 21 February 1870. The Municipality of Camperdown amalgamated with the City of Sydney on 22 December 1908. It became known as Camperdown Ward and was represented by two aldermen on Council.

The records of the Municipality (including maps and plans) were not transferred to the City Council at the time of amalgamation. Several references in the City Surveyor's report to the Town Clerk in 1904 are made to the lack of records and plans except one plan 'which is very old and does not show the whole of the streets and subdivisions'.
