Unique IDAS-0426Start date1st January 1890Start date qualifierexactFormatPlanDescriptionThis plan was created to accompany a report to Council by Engineers Messrs Smail and Jones recommending a drainage scheme to alleviate heavy flooding in the area known as Blackwattle Swamp and parts of the Blackfriars Estate.

Council had initially proposed to resume, subdivide and reconstruct this area in 1882. The matter was raised again in 1886, and in 1890 the Council obtained this plan and report by Smail and Jones. By 1906, Council had acquired the area and in 1907 instructed the Water and Sewerage Board to proceed with a stormwater sewer to alleviate drainage problems. This resumption was also known as the Athlone Place Resumption.
