Management and administration of the compulsory acquisition of land for public purposes, or other purposes permitted by law (such as clearance of housing designated as slums).
Although the City Council did not acquire the power to resume land until the early C20, land was resumed by the NSW Government during the C19 for Council purposes such as water supply (CRS19, Minutes of the Water Committee, records this from at least the 1870s).
