Items of political, economic and social news relating to the Council and councils of greater Sydney, such as Marrickille Municipal Council, were included. The clippings were taken from newspapers such as the South Sydney Advertiser, the Local News, the Glebe, the South Sydney Observor, The Guardian, and the Southern News.

The first volume consisted of photocopies of the newspaper, but the rest of the series was the original newsprint. Some of the clippings were stored in bound volumes and some in manilla folders. Some of the folders have pages signed and dated by the Municipal Engineer. Items 15 to 23 contain clippings from the Glebe and the Guardian only.
