The Project was approved as a two year Priority Project and commenced on 5 March 1990 with the appointment of Samantha Hughes as Project Archivist.

The forms were used to record conservation treatment (and other details) applied to permanent plans identified during the Project. The forms were originally printed for the Conservation of Building Plans Project and were adopted for City Engineer's plans.

The form records plan number, dimensions, description of plan type, support, condition of support and media. On the reverse details of treatment and materials/methods used are recorded. The forms are completed, signed and dated by the conservation assistants.

The series is arranged by plan series (E1, E3, S6 etc) and the forms are in plan number order. This is the only record of conservation treatments and techniques applied to the City Engineer's plans.
