Description

Many of the letters carry a stamp, and hand-written straight-number designation, in the top right corner. This is a registration number. The register for 1944-50 survives, as part of CRS 632. When letters were received by the Council, those considered more significant were registered sequentially. All letters, registered or not, were then placed in this series of correspondence files, and indexed alphabetically by correspondent, the surviving indexes (for 1932-35) being part of CRS 632.

In addition to the annual alphabetical file volumes, this series contains some 'subject files'. These consist of a volume comprising applications received for the position of Impounding Officer in 1930, and two others, of Council Meeting Papers for 1946 and 1947.
