DescriptionThis series of development application files for South Sydney City Council includes a formal request for consent to carry out proposed development and is required for most development in the local area. Development applications are usually required for actions like using land, subdividing land, erecting a building, making significant alterations and additions to building, demolition, other matters controlled by an environmental planning instrument. Development applications can be certified by Council or by a private certifier. Some more minor development consent is now given by the issue of a complying development certificate.This series includes amendments made to development applications under various sections of the Environmental Planning Act. South Sydney City Council "Development application files" were transferred to the City of Sydney as part of the amalgamation of 2004. These files continued to be added to by the City of Sydney after 2004 until their transfer to archives.
