McIvor was a hairdressing salon operator. He was a member of the Health and By-Laws Committee in 1907; the Works Committee in 1904; and the Electric Lighting Committee, 1905-1906. He was closely identified with many Associations that supported the mental and physical development of young men. McIvor was born in 1873 and died on 24 August 1907.
